About Me

Hi, I’m Jessie Whittaker, a Master of Social Work intern at Walden University.

My path to social work has been shaped by both education and lived experience. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Utah State University and a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Walden University. Along the way, I’ve also earned certifications in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), the Nurtured Heart Approach, and Trauma-Informed Care.

I am passionate about creating safe, compassionate spaces where people feel seen and valued. While it has taken me years of deconstruction and growth to reach this point, I believe wholeheartedly that every individual has the ability to heal, grow, and step into the best version of themselves.

My role is to walk alongside clients with empathy and authenticity, offering support as they tap into their own resilience and strengths.

In my practice, I regularly draw from systems theory, which helps me understand how family, community, and larger social structures influence each person’s story. I am especially drawn to supporting individuals who are navigating challenges related to identity, grief, and healing. Whether someone is in a season of transition, searching for belonging, or processing loss, I strive to provide care that is collaborative, empowering, and grounded in hope.

Holistic wellness is an important value for me, both personally and professionally. I often practice mindfulness, go on walks, and take intentional time to make sure my own cup is full. This allows me to stay grounded and present so I can continue dedicating myself fully to the work of social service and healing.

It is an honor to be part of Dr. Christy Kane’s team, and I look forward to supporting clients as they take meaningful steps toward healing and wholeness.
