Every family goes through challenges. If any of these sound familiar, family therapy can help you find a better way forward—together.

Every conversation turns into an argument

Your child is struggling emotionally or behaviorally

One person's mental health is affecting the whole family

Your teen has stopped talking to you

You're navigating divorce or co-parenting

You love each other, but don't know how to reconnect

Parenting feels exhausting

Your blended family isn't coming together how you hoped

How Our Approach is Different
Unlike individual therapy, family therapy isn't just about finding a good therapist.
It's about finding a team that can support your entire family.
Most private practice therapists work independently, focusing on one person at a time. If your child needs therapy, your teenager needs support, and you and your spouse need help navigating parenting together, you're often left trying to coordinate care across multiple offices, providers, and schedules.
At Kane Counseling Services, we've built something different.
Rather than treating each family member in isolation, our therapists collaborate to help your entire family move forward together. That means you don't just benefit from one therapist's perspective. You benefit from the experience, collaboration, and expertise of an entire clinical team.
Each treatment plan considers the individual member of the family in the context of the entire family system. The path forward consists of personal goals in the context of specific relationships, individual and family strengths, and family goals.
Over the past six years and after helping over 3,000 families, Kane Counseling Services has grown into a multidisciplinary team of over 20 therapists with specialized training in children, teens, adults, couples, family systems, trauma, and high-conflict family dynamics.
Our clinicians bring diverse methods, experience, and evidence-based practices to the families we serve. For many families, this creates opportunities that simply aren't available in every counseling setting.

What You Get With Coordinated Care
One of the questions families often ask is, "What happens between therapy sessions?"
It's a great question because meaningful therapy isn't limited to the 50 minutes you spend in your therapist's office each week. While you're practicing new skills at home and working toward your goals, your therapist is continuing to think about your family's care.
You get more than one therapist thinking about your family's care.
At Kane Counseling Services, coordinated care means your therapist is supported by a multidisciplinary team of more than 20 clinicians with experience working with children, teens, adults, couples, trauma, family systems, and high-conflict family dynamics.
Your therapist remains the clinician leading your care, but they don't work in isolation. They have access to colleagues who can offer additional perspectives, share clinical insight, and help develop thoughtful, evidence-based treatment plans when appropriate. Rather than relying on one professional's experience alone, your family benefits from the collective knowledge of a team that is committed to continually learning from one another.
That means if your family is navigating parent-teen conflict, trauma, divorce, neurodiversity, blended family dynamics, or behavioral concerns, your therapist has access to colleagues with additional expertise when it benefits your care.
Your therapist leads your treatment. Our team helps strengthen it.
Every week, our therapists participate in ongoing training designed to strengthen both their clinical skills and their ability to build meaningful therapeutic relationships. We maintain an extensive resource library filled with age-appropriate interventions, activities, and evidence-based tools so your therapist comes to each session prepared with strategies tailored to your family's goals rather than relying on the same approach for every client. Our team also communicates regularly through secure, HIPAA-compliant internal systems, allowing therapists to ask questions, share ideas, and receive support when complex situations arise.

Why this approach works
You get measurable, data-backed progress.
We also believe that quality care requires accountability. Throughout therapy, adult clients receive confidential check-ins based on the OQ45 Gold Standard for Patient-reported Outcomes.
In these check-ins you can privately share feedback about your experience. These conversations are reviewed by our clinical leadership team—not to evaluate clients, but to evaluate ourselves. If something isn't working as well as it could be, we want to know.
Your time, emotional energy, and financial investment matter, and we believe every therapy session should move your family toward meaningful progress.
Coordinated care also means making therapy as practical as possible for busy families. Whenever scheduling allows, we prioritize seeing family members at the same time or back-to-back so parents aren't making multiple trips throughout the week. Children, teens, parents, siblings, and couples can all receive care within the same practice, and our family-friendly client lounges provide a comfortable place to wait between appointments. Our administrative team works behind the scenes to coordinate schedules, answer questions, assist with insurance, and help your family's experience run as smoothly as possible.
Learn about our tailored services for each member of your family:
For many families, the greatest benefit of working with a coordinated team is peace of mind.
-
You know your therapist arrives prepared.
-
You know they have access to additional expertise when needed.
-
You know your feedback matters.
-
And you know there is an entire team working behind the scenes to help your family receive thoughtful, compassionate, evidence-based care.
While you may spend one hour each week in therapy, that hour is supported by a much larger commitment to helping your family succeed.
Our commitment is to provide the most effective care possible while making the best use of your time, emotional energy, and financial investment. Every treatment plan is thoughtfully designed to help your family make meaningful progress as efficiently as is clinically appropriate, without sacrificing the quality of care.
Treatment Continues in-between Sessions
Healing doesn't only happen during the 50 minutes you're sitting in the therapy room.
Between appointments, your therapist may be:
-
Reviewing notes and identifying patterns that emerged during your session.
-
Planning age-appropriate interventions for your next appointment.
-
Preparing worksheets, activities, or resources specific to your family's goals.
-
Coordinating care with other therapists involved in your family's treatment when appropriate and with your permission.
-
Adjusting your treatment plan as your family's needs evolve.
When you arrive for your next appointment, your therapist isn't starting from scratch.
They're prepared.

We Invest in Our Therapists so They Can Invest in Your Family
Mental health research continues to evolve, and so do we.
Our clinicians participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and weekly professional development designed to strengthen both their clinical knowledge and interpersonal skills.
We also maintain an extensive clinical resource library so therapists have access to evidence-based interventions for children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
That commitment to lifelong learning helps ensure your family benefits from current research and practical therapeutic tools—not just what someone learned years ago in graduate school.

The strength of Kane Counseling isn't one therapist—it's the thoughtful collaboration of an experienced team.
Every family is different, which is why we've intentionally built a team with a wide range of specialties and experience. If you'd like to learn more about the therapists who make coordinated care possible, we invite you to meet our team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Family Therapy?
Family therapy helps families understand relationship patterns, improve communication, and work together toward healthier relationships. Rather than focusing on one person as "the problem," it looks at how family members influence one another and creates practical strategies for lasting change.
Does everyone have to attend every session?
No. Many families begin with one parent or one family member. As therapy progresses, sessions may include parents, children, siblings, or the whole family depending on your goals.
Will the therapists take sides?
No. Our therapists are trained to understand the needs of every family member while creating a safe environment where everyone feels heard and respected.
Will my insurance cover therapy?
Insurance benefits vary by plan. Many families receive coverage for individual therapy, and our coordinated approach often allows families to receive comprehensive support while maximizing available insurance benefits. Visit our page on rates & insurance to see if we accept your specific plan.
How quickly can we be seen?
We can often schedule new clients within 48 hours, depending on therapist availability.
What ages do you work with?
We work with young children, teens, adults, parents, couples, and multigenerational families.
What if our family has already tried therapy?
Many families come to us after previous therapy experiences. Our coordinated, family systems approach often provides a different experience by combining individual work with collaborative family sessions.
What if my teen refuses to come?
That's okay. We can begin with the family members who are ready. As trust develops, many reluctant teens become more willing to participate.
Can siblings work with different therapists?
Yes. Because we're an integrated practice, siblings can work with different therapists while our team collaborates to coordinate care.
How long does family therapy take?
Every family is different. Some families reach their goals in a few months, while others choose longer-term support as relationships continue to grow.
