Whether you're seeking an ADHD assessment, substance use evaluation, anxiety assessment, trauma assessment, or a general mental health evaluation, our team can help.
IMPORTANT: Kane Counseling provides clinical mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
We do not provide forensic evaluations or comprehensive psychological testing.
Mental Health Assessments vs. Psychological Testing
Many people use the terms "assessment," "evaluation," and "testing" interchangeably. Clinically, however, they are different services.
Mental Health Assessments
(What we provide)
Mental health assessments are conducted by licensed mental health professionals and typically include:
-
Clinical interviews
-
Symptom questionnaires
-
Behavioral screenings
-
Review of history and functioning
-
Diagnostic impressions
-
Written reports when appropriate
-
Treatment recommendations
The goal is to evaluate symptoms, identify possible diagnoses, and provide recommendations for treatment, support, or next steps.
Psychological Testing
(What we do not provide)
Psychological testing is typically performed by psychologists or specialty evaluators and often includes:

-
IQ testing
-
Neuropsychological testing
-
Psychoeducational testing
-
Comprehensive autism testing
-
Learning disability evaluations
-
Formal cognitive assessments

These evaluations often involve multiple testing instruments, scoring protocols, and extensive interpretation beyond the scope of a clinical mental health assessment.
