Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the Affordable Therapy Program even if I have insurance?

You may be able to choose private-pay therapy even if you have insurance. Because insurance plans and provider contracts vary, our care team can help you understand which options are available to you before scheduling.

What types of therapy are available at the affordable rate?

Services depend on the training and availability of our current intern therapists. Depending on the clinician, options may include individual therapy, teen therapy, young adult therapy, couples or family therapy, and other areas of support.

Can I choose my therapist?

Yes, you can! We are also happy to help match you if you would like. We want you to find someone who feels like a good fit. You can explore our intern therapist profiles, learn about their personalities, interests, approaches, and areas of focus, and then contact our care team for help getting started.

Do I have to demonstrate financial need?

No. Anyone may choose the $75 Affordable Therapy Program when an intern therapist is an appropriate clinical fit and has availability. The $75 rate is not a financial-assistance award or means-tested program.

Why are sessions more affordable?

Working with graduate-level therapists allows us to offer quality therapy at a more accessible private-pay rate. The reduced price reflects the therapist’s stage of professional training—not a different level of care or attention.

What is a graduate-level therapist?

An intern therapist is a graduate student completing the clinical training required for their master’s degree and future licensure. They have already completed substantial academic coursework and are now gaining supervised experience working directly with clients. The Affordable Therapy rate is tied to the clinician's internship status. When a therapist completes their internship, rates and insurance options may change.

Can the $75 rate be billed to my insurance?

No. Affordable Therapy sessions are offered as a private-pay service and are not submitted to insurance.

Can I switch therapists if it doesn't feel like the right fit?

Yes. The relationship you have with your therapist matters. If you feel another clinician may be a better match, contact our care team and we can help you explore other available options.

Can I move to an associate or fully-licensed therapist later?

Absolutely. Your needs may change over time. If you would like to transition to an associate or fully licensed therapist, our care team can help you explore available providers and rates. Our associate and fully-licensed clinicians do have higher private-pay rates.

How do I get started?

You can browse our intern therapist profiles and choose someone who interests you, or contact our care team and let us help you find the right fit.
